Dressed in their best attire—a fashionable white bowtie, a group of our telepresence robots flew down to Orlando in November for Deltek’s big annual conference, Deltek Insight. While they did have a chance to attend some of the dozens of informative workshops and breakout sessions for goverenment and professional service firms, most just buzzed around with their segway-like wheels on the show floor, greeting other conference attendees with the smiling face and voice of the test driver on the other end.
But it wasn’t all about taking selfies with Insighters and showing off their slick self-balancing body, the Doubles had a more important mission: introduce companies to the future of work and telepresence technology.
“The way we work is changing,” said Maria Vedral, President/CEO of SilverEdge Software and Owner of MeandMyDouble, “professionals in all fields are innovating the way they collaborate.”
Not only are smart companies beginning to leverage “social business” tools like Kona, Jive and IBM Social Business for better internal and external communication and process management, but they’re also looking at alternatives to video conferencing for telecommuters. The Double brings a fresh and fun new way for professionals to be in two places at once, without losing all the benefits that come with face-to-face interpersonal communication.
